Stevens's hit-making collaboration by having Billy Idol began once Idol moved to a United states, shortly fallowing the latter's band Generation X disbanded. Stevens co-wrote & played on the albums ''Don't Prevent EP, Billy Idol (1982), Rebel Yell (1984), Whiplash Smile (1986), and the remix collection Vital Idol (1985). Musical differences in a period of the Whiplash Smile'' sessions led to the pair's parting of ways.

Stevens recorded his 2nd solo album, Flamenco The Last Last, around his page studio totally by himself. This effort stemmed from either the inspiration he received when attending a concert by Flamenco virtuoso Paco de Lucía.

Stevens (along using Harold Faltermeyer) won a Grammy in 1987 for his performance on the Top Gun soundtrack and has worked with the persons of more creative person like Vince Neil, Michael Jackson, Michael Monroe, Thompson Twins, Joni Mitchell, Peter Criss, Steve Lukather, Ric Ocasek, Ben Watkins of Juno Reactor, Greg Bissonette, Pink, Robert Palmer, Jizzy Pearl, Terry Bozzio and Tony Levin (releasing 2 albums under a title Bozzio, Levin, Stevens), Japanese rock singer Kyosuke Himuro.

Fallowing a long hiatus, Stevens & Idol reunited inside 1999 for a series of tours through the America & Australia. This erthe involved a recording captured for the VH1 show Storytellers, which was subsequently freed in Video & DVD. Stevens as well appeared in the Billy Idol episode of VH1's Behind The Music.

Such was a profits of this renewed collaboration, around 2005, along by having producer Keith Forsey, the duo freed Billy Idol's Devil's Playground album. This was a foremost album to feature a hit-making trio since 1986's Whiplash Smile.

Encounter with Kyosuke Himuro
Stevens has wtitten & performed a bit of songs, recorded by owning Japanese singer Kyosuke Himuro, who is Stevens' junior by 1 month, numerous days. A years which Stevens was included within Himuro's music session first was Himuro's big hit only "NATIVE STRANGER" inside 1996 (Incidentally, Stevens appeared in this song's PV with Himuro).

Stevens participates inside Himuro's concert tour willingly. & there, Stevens has played his song "Dementia".

Currently Stevens doesn't participate within Himuro's concert because Stevens is occupy sustaining Billy Idol's works however, numerous Himuro's fan hopes that Stevens comes back to Himuro's session.
